In this 1941 musical romantic comedy, opera singer Risë Stevens and Nelson Eddy star as Karl Lang and his wife Maria Lanyi, both struggling with jealousy amidst their successful careers. To test her loyalty, Karl disguises himself as a Russian guardsman, Vassily, but ends up being outsmarted by his own wife, who sees through the ruse and is charmed that her husband would go to such lengths for her attention. The film features original music from the Oscar Straus operetta "The Chocolate Soldier," which was adapted from George Bernard Shaw's play "Arms and the Man" and Ferenc Molnár's play "The Guardsman."
