In ancient Pompeii, blacksmith Marcus becomes a Roman gladiator after his wife and child are killed in a chariot accident, sparking a path of revenge and wealth. As he adopts Flavius, a boy whose father he killed in the arena, Marcus' fortunes rise, but so do his guilt and sense of purposelessness. When Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, employs him to lead raids, Marcus finds himself on a collision course with Jesus Christ, who saves his adopted son's life. Years later, as the city teeters on the brink of disaster, Marcus must confront his past and ultimately sacrifice everything for the sake of those he loves.
