Carly (Carly Pope) is a young woman who has fallen out of contact with her mother Angela (Nathalie Boltt), convicted of killing more than 20 people in a spree of violence. Carly's best friend Sam (Kandyse McClure) and childhood friend Martin (Chris William Martin) intervene, revealing that Angela was part of a simulated reality experiment where she's trapped inside a "lock-in" state. As Carly is drawn into the simulation, she confronts her mother's dark past and is attacked by an avian-like demon that unleashes a terrifying chain of events.
