In "Winstanley", a haunting black-and-white drama, director Kevin Brownlow and Andrew Mollo bring to life the story of Gerrard Winstanley, a 17th-century social reformer who dared to challenge the status quo with his radical ideas about communal land ownership. Based on David Caute's novel Comrade Jacob, the film tells the true story of Winstanley and his followers, the Diggers, who attempted to establish a self-sufficient farming community in England during a time of great upheaval.
