On the eve of Y2K, 12-year-old Beverly discovers a broken mixtape crafted by her teen parents and sets out on a mission to track down its songs, bonding over music with her grandmother Gail (Julie Bowen) and forming friendships that lead her to discover more about her parents. With the reluctant help of record store owner Anti (Nick Thune), Beverly finds the first song, "Getting Nowhere Fast," and embarks on an expedition to uncover the rest, eventually leading to a heartwarming connection with her grandmother. Along the way, she also forms close bonds with Ellen (Audrey Hsieh) and Nicky (Olga Petsa). In the end, the three girls come together to perform songs inspired by the mixtape, celebrating their newfound understanding and connection.
