Growing Up Smith is a coming-of-age story about 10-year-old Smith Bhatnagar, who struggles to balance his Indian heritage and American upbringing as he navigates adolescence in small-town America in 1979. His desire to become a "good old boy" leads him further away from his family's ideals than ever before, all while falling head-over-heels for the girl next door, Amy Brunner.
