A doctor named Helen Matthews (Patricia Clarkson) takes in a mysterious man named Will (Scott Speedman), who has been shot in the shoulder and is hiding on her remote cottage after a killer arrives to finish the job. As a storm cuts them off from the mainland, they both learn that their lives are intertwined with danger and secrets. Helen tends to Will's wound, but he refuses to reveal his identity or tell her about the threats against him.
