In this 1958 French-language comedy film, Monsieur Hulot, a lovable but socially awkward man, is thrilled to spend time at his sister's modernist nightmare of a home in the suburbs of Paris. The ultra-modern Villa Arpel is an environment designed more for superficial aesthetics and electrical gadgets than daily living, driving its occupants M. and Mme. Arpel into monotony.
