A few months after the events of the first film, Professor Roy Curien unleashes a zombie outbreak at Cuesta Verde University in Seattle, killing his students and infecting others. The government sends a team of NSA medical researchers to retrieve a blood sample from the original infected specimen while avoiding a missile strike that will level the campus. As the team navigates the horrors of the zombie-infested university, they must also contend with their own personal demons and the incompetence of their military escort, leading to a desperate fight for survival against hordes of undead.
