Jewel thief Miles Logan steals a $17 million diamond during a heist in Los Angeles, but it's hidden inside an air duct of a building under construction before he's arrested. Two years later, Miles disguises himself as a police detective to retrieve the diamond and discovers that his street smarts and criminal insight help him solve crimes and earn respect from his colleagues. As he navigates his new role, Miles is forced to confront his past and team up with a real policeman to catch a former accomplice who's blackmailed over the diamond's location. In the end, Miles outsmarts his foes, recovers the diamond, and starts anew in Mexico.
