The film "Dance First" is a biographical drama about Irish playwright Samuel Beckett's life, from his childhood to his death in 1989. It follows Beckett (Gabriel Byrne) as he navigates his relationships with friends like James Joyce (Aidan Gillen), his future wife Suzanne Dumesnil (Sandrine Bonnaire), and fellow writer Barbara Bray (Maxine Peake). The film also explores Beckett's time as a French Resistance fighter during World War II, his postwar literary rise, and his later life of solitude.
