"Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins" is a lackluster animated prequel that fails to capture the essence of the iconic video game franchise. Based on the titular fighting game, this 1995 film follows Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Johnny Cage as they embark on a perilous journey to defeat Shang Tsung, Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Goro in a tournament of Mortal Kombat.
