In "In the Land of the Head Hunters," Motana (Stanley Hunt) embarks on a vigil-journey to gain power from spirit forces, but his dreams are constantly of Naida, his love interest. As Motana navigates his desires and the tribal law, he must pass stronger ordeals, including sleeping on the Island of the Dead and hunting whales to rid the region of the head hunters. The film's plot is intertwined with the conflict between two factions, one led by the Sorcerer, who seeks to claim Naida as his dowry, and the other, led by Motana and his father Kenada (Paddy 'Malid).
