In Maybrook, Pennsylvania, seventeen children from Justine Gandy's third-grade class mysteriously vanish on the same night at 2:17 a.m., leaving only one student, Alex Lilly, behind. As parents become suspicious of Justine's involvement, Archer Graff, Justine's ex-boyfriend and a police officer, starts his own investigation, encountering a homeless drug addict named James who claims to know the children's whereabouts. Meanwhile, Principal Marcus Miller becomes entangled in a dark web of tragedy when an elderly woman, claiming to be Alex's Aunt Gladys, bewitches him into committing murder.
