Ginger Rogers and Fred Allen star as Steve Gladwyn, a radio DJ, and his wife Ramona, who are forced to confront their real feelings about each other after discovering they were never legally married by a well-meaning but incompetent Justice of the Peace, Victor Moore's Melvin Bush, who performed six weddings in one night. Other couples, including Marilyn Monroe as Annabel Jones and David Wayne as Jeff Norris, also navigate the complexities of marriage and relationships when it is revealed that they too have never been legally wed.
