Set against a backdrop of social hierarchy and patriarchal values, "Aysel: Batakli Damin Kizi" (1934) is a poignant drama that explores the struggles of a young woman's quest for justice and dignity. When Aysel becomes embroiled in an illicit affair with her powerful employer, she finds herself faced with an uncertain future when she gives birth to a child, only to be rejected by the father.
