Jack Mercer was a prolific American voice actor, animator, and writer known for his iconic roles as Popeye the Sailor and Felix the Cat. Born Winfield B. Mercer in 1910 to vaudeville and Broadway performers, he began his career as an "inbetweener" at Fleischer Studios before taking over as the voice of Popeye in 1935. Mercer voiced Popeye for over 40 years, cementing his legacy in cartoon history.
