Biography

Max Linder was a French actor and filmmaker whose silent comedy career spanned over two decades, earning him recognition as a pioneering figure in the genre. He rose to fame with his character "Max", a dapper top-hatted comedian, before being injured in World War I, which ultimately derailed his career. Despite struggling with health issues, Linder continued to work until his death by suicide in 1925 at age 41, leaving behind a legacy as the first international movie star.
