Masao Matsuda

Biography

Masao Matsuda was a Japanese politician and film critic who gained notoriety for his controversial views on revolution and cinema. In the 1960s, he co-founded the Tokyo Action Line with Masakazu Taketa and participated in anti-war activism, including a failed attempt to hijack a plane. Matsuda's criticism of Western influences on Japanese film and politics, as seen in his scathing review of the 1968 film "Japan's Guerrilla Era," made him a prominent figure in Japan's radical left.
