William Lucas was a versatile English actor born on April 14, 1925, in Manchester, England. Before becoming a renowned film, theatre, radio, and television star, he served in the Royal Navy during World War II and worked various manual jobs, including as a commercial traveller and lorry driver. He trained at the Northern Theatre School and began his stage career in Chesterfield in 1950, before transitioning to film roles, including notable appearances in Hammer Films and British crime movies.
