Biography

Jean Pélégri was a French-Algerian writer and professor of literature, born in Algeria on June 20, 1920. He was part of the pied-noir diaspora following the Algerian War and remained close to many prominent Algerian writers, including Mohammed Dib and Kateb Yacine. Pélégri's novel "Les Oliviers de la justice" won the Cinema and Television Writers Award at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival, where he also assisted as screenwriter and actor.
