Biography

Austin Stoker was a Trinidadian-American actor born on October 7, 1930, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. He gained recognition for his role as Lt. Ethan Bishop in John Carpenter's 1976 film Assault on Precinct 13, one of the few heroic starring roles for a black actor in an action film outside the blaxploitation genre. Stoker also appeared in several other notable films and television series, including Battle for the Planet of the Apes and Roots.
