Xaviera Hollander is a Dutch former call girl and madam, best known for her memoir The Happy Hooker: My Own Story. Born Xaviera "Vera" de Vries in Surabaya, Indonesia, she spent her early life in a Japanese internment camp before settling in New York City, where she became one of the city's leading madams and later wrote about her experiences as a sex worker and author.
