Candida Royalle

Biography

Candida Royalle was a pioneering producer and director of couples-oriented pornography, sex educator, and sex-positive feminist. Born Candice Marion Vadala in New York City in 1950, she trained in music, dance, and art before entering the adult film industry in 1974. She founded Femme Productions, becoming one of the earliest female directors, and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which she later succumbed to in 2015.
