Jan Merlin was a character actor, screenwriter, and author born Jan Wasylewski on April 3, 1925, in New York City. He served in the US Navy during World War II and later attended the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, making his Broadway debut in 1949. Merlin won a Daytime Emmy for writing Another World and appeared in notable films such as "Take the Money and Run" and "I Escaped from Devil's Island".
