Boris Berezovsky
Biography
Boris Berezovsky was a Russian business oligarch and government official who rose to prominence in the early 1990s through the privatisation of state property. He amassed an estimated $3 billion fortune, including control over Channel One, but fell into poverty and depression after losing legal battles with Roman Abramovich and undergoing a costly divorce. A key figure in Vladimir Putin's election campaign, Berezovsky was elected to the State Duma in 1999 as a loyalist. His later fortunes were reversed by his own downfall.
