Steve Squyres
Biography
Steven Weldon Squyres, born January 9, 1956, is an American geologist and planetary scientist renowned for his work on large solid bodies in the Solar System. As principal investigator of the Mars Exploration Rover Mission (MER), he led a groundbreaking space exploration project. A recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Carl Sagan Memorial Award and the Mines Medal, Squyres retired from Cornell University to become Chief Scientist at Blue Origin in 2019.
