Michael Robert "Bob" Gale, born May 21, 1951, is an American screenwriter and film producer best known for co-writing the science fiction comedy film Back to the Future with Robert Zemeckis. He also co-produced all three films in the franchise, earning a reputation as its "gatekeeper." A graduate of the University of Southern California's Cinema program, Gale has worked behind the scenes on several notable projects since his education.
