Biography

Sō Kitamura is a Japanese dramatist and essayist born on July 5, 1952, in Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture. He co-founded the theater group "TPO Shi-dan" in 1976 and later founded "Suisei '86" before creating "Project Nav", with which he worked from 1986 to 2003. Kitamura has received two notable awards for his work: the Kishida-Kunio-Price in 1984 for "11-nin no shōnen" and the Kinokuniya-Theater-Price in 1990, cementing his reputation as a prominent figure in Japanese theater.
