Grace Jones was born in Jamaican and raised in New York, where she studied theatre before becoming a successful model in Paris. She emerged as one of the most prominent Black models of the 1970s, known for her androgynous appearance and bold features. Jones transitioned to music in the late 1970s, securing a record deal with Island Records and collaborating with designers Jean-Paul Goude and Sly & Robbie, earning her the nickname "Disco Queen".
