Ricky Donnell "Freeway" Ross, born January 26, 1960, is an American author and former drug lord who established a lucrative cocaine empire in Los Angeles from the early to mid 1980s. His operation generated over $900 million in revenue, with profits of nearly $300 million. Ross was sentenced to life in prison but had his sentence shortened on appeal and was released in 2009 after serving nearly two decades behind bars.
