Biography

Walter Theodore "Sonny" Rollins was a renowned American jazz tenor saxophonist widely recognized as one of the most influential musicians in jazz history. He recorded over sixty albums as a leader and created iconic compositions such as "St. Thomas", "Oleo", and "Doxy" that have become jazz standards. Dubbed "the greatest living improviser" and "saxophone colossus", Rollins was awarded a lifetime Grammy Award and honored with the Kennedy Center Honors in 2011.
