Gustav Regler
Biography
Gustav Regler was a German writer and journalist born on May 25, 1898, in Merzig, Prussian Rhine Province. He served as a political commissar during the Spanish Civil War, befriending Ernest Hemingway, and wrote about his experiences in his novel "The Great Crusade" (1940). Regler's memoirs were published in London in 1959, offering a personal account of his life and travels.
