Marceline Loridan-Ivens

Biography

Marceline Loridan-Ivens was a French writer and film director born to Polish Jewish parents in France. Her memoir But You Did Not Come Back recounts her time in Auschwitz-Birkenau, where she was deported with her father Szlama in 1944. She later co-directed several films with Joris Ivens, including 17th Parallel: Vietnam in War (1968), before leaving China during the Cultural Revolution.
