Aminata Fall

Biography

Aminata Fall, born Garmi in 1930, was a Senegalese singer and comedian known for her blues and mbalax compositions. She began her career as a young girl selling acacia nuts outside a cinema, where she would occasionally sing while watching legendary performers like Louis Armstrong and Aretha Franklin. Her music career took off in the late 1950s with the Star Jazz orchestra, earning her recognition from the Sénégalais public.
