Hideo Sugawara

Biography

Hideo Sugawara was born on January 3, 1924, in Funatsu, Hokkaido. At age 4, he lost his father, and he and his mother moved to Tokyo, where he joined the Studio Shochiku at age 6 and began his acting career. He made his film debut in 1930 with "Father," and his performances led to him being dubbed "a name actor" alongside fellow talents such as Meiko Kaji.
