Lou Tellegen

Biography

Lou Tellegen was a Dutch-born silent film and stage actor, film director, and screenwriter who made his stage debut in Amsterdam in 1903 and co-starred with Sarah Bernhardt in La dame aux camélias in 1910. He later produced and starred in Oscar Wilde's play The Picture of Dorian Gray in London in 1913, followed by a string of films starring Geraldine Farrar. Despite his early success, Tellegen struggled financially and personally before taking his own life in 1934 at the age of 52.
