Nicholas Kristof is an American journalist and political commentator, born on April 27, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to two professors at Portland State University. He graduated from Harvard University and began his career writing for The Harvard Crimson before joining the staff of The New York Times in 1984. A Pulitzer Prize winner, Kristof is known for shedding light on human rights abuses and social injustices, earning him an "honorary African" from Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
