Biography

Wolfgang Bächler was a German poet and prose writer, born in Augsburg in 1925. He studied Germanistics, Romanistics, and other subjects at the University of Munich from 1945 to 1948, and participated in the first gathering of the Group 47 in 1947. After a military career and experiences in war and captivity, Bächler became a journalist, marrying French author Danielle Ogier in 1956.
