Marcia Langton

Biography

Marcia Lynne Langton is an Aboriginal Australian writer and academic, known for her activism in Indigenous rights. Born on October 31, 1951, she grew up in south-central Queensland and Brisbane with a Yiman and Bidjara heritage. She began her career as a student leader, attending a law/arts degree at the University of Queensland while objecting to racism. As a prominent advocate for Indigenous rights, Langton is currently the Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health.
