He gained recognition for his roles in avant-garde films, including Teinosuke Kinugasa's "A Page of Madness" (1926), and later became known for his comedic performances. Takase's filmography spanned multiple studios, including Shochiku, Nikkatsu, and Toho, where he often played villains or showcased eccentric personas.
