Biography

Yang Lina is a Chinese independent filmmaker and performer known for her work in the New Documentary Movement. She began her career as a dancer and theater actress before transitioning into filmmaking with her debut documentary "Old Men" (1999), which focused on Beijing's octogenarians. Her innovative use of digital video format and close-point-of-view techniques impressed notable filmmakers, including Wu Wenguang, who mentored her.
