Biography

Denys Colomb de Daunant was a French writer, poet, photographer, and filmmaker born into a Protestant family in southern France's Gard department. During World War II, he fled France for insulting a German officer and later purchased the Cacharel mas in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, transforming it into a rustic horse-riding centre. He co-authored the award-winning short film White Mane with Albert Lamorisse and James Agee in 1953.
