Biography

Oumou Sangaré is a Grammy Award-winning Malian Wassoulou musician of Fulani descent, born in 1968 to singer parents. She began singing at five to support her mother and left school early to pursue music. At 16, she embarked on tour with Djoliba, performing internationally, inspiring her return to Bamako and the establishment of her own musical group. Her talent has earned her recognition as "The Songbird of Wassoulou".
