Juri Ueno is a Japanese actress born on May 25, 1986, in Kakogawa, Hyogo, Japan. She gained recognition for her role in the 2004 film Swing Girls, winning several awards including Newcomer of the Year at the Japanese Academy Awards and Best Newcomer at the Yokohama Film Festival. Ueno's breakthrough continued with her starring role as Nodame Katsumata in the live-action adaptation of Nodame Cantabile, for which she won Best Lead Actress at the 51st Television Drama Academy Awards.
