Biography

Joseph Cotter Smith is an American stage, film, and television actor born on May 29, 1949, in Washington, D.C., to a family of attorneys. He graduated from the Lawrenceville School and Trinity College, before turning his back on a potential law career to become a teacher and later, an actor. Notable highlights include Broadway appearances in Next Fall and Burn This, as well as roles in film and television productions such as The Standoff at Sparrow Creek and Friends with Kids.
