Will Shortz, born August 26, 1952, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, is a renowned American puzzle creator and editor. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in enigmatology, the study of puzzles, making him the only known holder of this unique academic credential. In 1993, he began his tenure as crossword puzzle editor for The New York Times, which has since become his most notable and enduring endeavor.
