Biography

Gyanesh Mukherjee was a Bengali actor, director, and theater personality, active in the Indian film industry from the late 1950s to the 1970s. He collaborated with notable directors Ritwik Ghatak, Mrinal Sen, and Tapan Sinha, and is known for his roles in "Palatak" (1963) and "The Cloud-Capped Star" (1960). Mukherjee also directed the film "Achen Atithi", remade in Hindi as "Anjane Mehmaan" in 1975. He passed away in Kolkata on May 8, 2008.
