Frank Deford

Biography

Benjamin Franklin Deford III was a renowned American sportswriter and novelist, known for his work in Sports Illustrated and NPR's Morning Edition. A prolific author, he wrote 18 books, including nine novels, and was recognized with numerous awards, including the National Humanities Medal and the W.M. Kiplinger Award for Distinguished Contributions to Journalism. Deford's contributions to sports journalism earned him a place in the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame.
