Elsie Noel Dyson was a renowned English character actress born on December 23, 1916, into a wealthy Manchester family. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1938 and went on to perform in repertory companies across Britain before moving to London's West End. Her notable roles include Ida Barlow in Coronation Street (1960-61) and Nanny in Father, Dear Father (1973).
